Taylor Jenkins is the Memphis Grizzlies’ head coach, and he just signed a new contract with the team.
His net worth and salary are not known, but based on how much the team’s previous head coach made, it is likely to be between $1 million and $2 million.
Jenkins, who studies economics at the University of Pennsylvania, grew up in Dallas and went to Mavericks games as the team became a strong challenger in the early 2000s.
Jenkins became a coach for the Memphis Grizzlies in June 2019. Before he turned 30, he had worked his way up through the coaching ranks to become the head coach of their G-League team.
After he signed the deal, the Western Conference named him Coach of the Month in January 2020 and December 2021. In 2022, it was the first time in the team’s history that they won their division.
Taylor Jenkins’s coaching job has given him a lot of money
Taylor Jenkins, who is the head coach, has been coaching for decades and is thought to be worth more than $1 million.
BodyBets says that the head coach of the Grizzlies makes the most, at $2.5 million per year. Even though it’s not clear how much he’s made, it’s safe to say that his career has made him a lot of money.
Jenkins is one of the most important pieces Memphis needs to win its first championship. In October, Kleiman, the league’s Executive of the Year, and Jaren Jackson Jr. came to an agreement on a four-year, $105 million contract.
Jenkins was named Coach of the Month by the Western Conference for December 2021, and he finished second in the voting for NBA Coach of the Year for 2021–2022.
The Grizzlies had the second-youngest team in the NBA, and they were one of only two teams, along with the Phoenix Suns, to finish the season in the top six in both offensive rating (114.3) and defensive rating (108.9).

In Jenkins’ three years as a coach, the Grizzlies’ average scoring has gone up every year. In 2021–22, they averaged 115.6 points, which was a new team high.
Last season, the Grizzlies set team records for wins on the road (26), in the Western Conference (36), and in the Southwest Division (11). From December 26 to January 13, they also won 11 games in a row.
Last season, Memphis set franchise records in every category except blocks and led the NBA in rebounding (49.2), offensive rebounds (14.1), second-chance points (18.7), blocks (6.5), steals (9.8), scores in the paint (57.6), and fast break points (17.7).

Jenkins’ contract with the Grizzlies has been extended for a number of years
In June 2022, the Memphis Grizzlies said that head coach Taylor Jenkins’s contract had been extended for more years. As per team policy, the terms of the agreement were kept secret.
In his third season as head coach, Jenkins led the Grizzlies to a 56-26 record. This was tied for the best single-season record in team history and the second-best record in the NBA.
In the Western Conference Playoffs, Memphis got the No. 2 seed, which was a franchise high. For the first time since 2015, Memphis made it to the Western Conference Semifinals.
During the regular season, the Grizzlies also won the Southwest Division Championship. This was the first time in the team’s history that they won their division.

For criticizing the referee, Memphis Coach Taylor was fined $15,000
Jenkins says he will pay his own $15,000 fine for openly criticizing the refereeing in Game 4 of the Grizzlies’ playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, even though a couple of players have offered to pay it for him.
Jenkins will have to pay a fine to the NBA on April 25, 2022, because the Grizzlies lost to the Timberwolves 119-118 in Minneapolis on Saturday night.
His punishment was the first for a Grizzlies coach in the playoffs since David Fizdale, the team’s rookie head coach at the time, was fined $30,000 in April 2017.
Fizdale, on the other hand, was fined for his outburst at the officials, which is remembered for the phrase “Take that as data.” It happened after the team lost twice in a row to start the first-round series against San Antonio.
How much money NBA coach Jenskins has made with the San Antonio Spurs
Jenkins’s first job with the Spurs was during the summer between his sophomore and senior years. He got the job through a family connection.
The man from Dallas did well enough after he graduated to get a full-year internship in the team’s front office, where he could combine his love of basketball and his business degree.
As an intern, Jenkins spent enough time with the club to decide he wanted to attempt coaching.
On the other hand, the Spurs saw his talent and hired Jenkins as an assistant coach for the Toros of the G-Austin League (now the Austin Spurs).
He did that job for four seasons under Brad Jones, who is now the coach of the Memphis Hustle, and Quin Snyder, who used to be the coach of the Utah Jazz. Jenkins was up next. In 2012–13, when he was the head coach of the Toros, he led the team to the G-League semifinals.
Jenkins Worked As An Assistant For Mike Budenholzer
After spending six years with the Spurs franchise, Jenkins joined Mike Budenholzer, a former Spurs assistant who took the helm as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks before the 2013–14 season.
Jenkins worked with Budenholzer for five years before joining his team in Milwaukee last season. During that time, they went to the playoffs four times.
The Commercial Appeal says that at his first press conference, Jenkins kept his emotions in check as he thanked Budenholzer and the other assistants in Milwaukee for their help.
Jenkins’s tears at the podium showed two things about him that have been clear ever since he started working in Memphis: he loves basketball and it has brought him together with many people. When he first played the game as a child at a summer camp, everything changed.
In the same way, he went onto the court with a new drive to win. Instead of running through the wall, he wanted to jump down. He showed who he was through this sport. That was the start, at least in part.
He was lucky enough to keep going in that direction for a few years.
Penn Was Taylor Jenkins’s First Time Coaching
Jenkins started a youth basketball league in West Philadelphia with a group of friends during his second year at Penn. This was a way for him to get involved in the community.
The league became one of the most important parts of his college life.
Taylor and his friends who put together the league also knew each other from playing basketball at the campus recreation center. All of them loved the game, which was clear when they wore suits to the game to lead their young teams.
Jenkins also said that someone he knew in college still sends him news stories about some of the young athletes who played in the league.
At Penn, he played basketball
Jenkins played intramural basketball at Penn and watched NBA and Texas Longhorns games on TV from time to time.
But schoolwork became his top priority at the Ivy League college in Philadelphia, which had a little more than 10,000 undergraduates.
As a junior, he thought about applying for an internship with the Philadelphia 76ers and looking into opportunities for student management with the basketball teams at his college.
He liked baseball a lot
According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the 38-year-old liked Duncan because the 15-time All-Star and two-time MVP reminded him of his favorite baseball player.
Jenkins was first interested in baseball, which he played as an infielder and pitcher during the summers of his childhood and high school years.
Jenkins, on the other hand, was in sixth grade when he went to a basketball camp at a rival school.
The coach at these camps, Scott Jolly, later coached Jenkins’ varsity team at St. Mark’s, an all-boys school about eight miles north of Dallas.
Jenkins played the clarinet before he started playing basketball. He started with “a small plastic thing that kind of looked like a clarinet” and kept playing until his junior year of high school.
Family of Five by Taylor Jenkins
Taylor Jenkins is a coach in the NBA. He is married and has four kids, so he must be very good at managing his time.
Jenkins says that his family taught him a lot about how to connect with athletes. He says that his wife Chantall’s two sons from a previous relationship who are now in college “keep him in touch” with younger people.
His oldest son was charged with making a false report to the police
The Commercial Appeal got court papers that said Jenkins’ oldest son was arrested and charged with making a false criminal report, which is a felony.
On March 21, 2021, four guys came up to Alberto Jenkins, 24, as he was leaving his job at Tug’s Casual Grill. He said that he had been kidnapped and that his car had been stolen in a robbery with guns.
An affidavit says that he said they told him to drive them somewhere “to pick up something” and that one of the men was armed.
Jenkins said that the men let him go after he drove, but they took his car, phone, and $750 in cash. He called the police hours later, but he didn’t know where he was dropped off.
Also, court records show that he admitted to lying and trying to buy cocaine from a group of men when he decided not to press charges and was “confronted with discrepancies in his account.”
