After heading out for an afternoon jog close to their residence in Redding, California, around the beginning of November 2016, Sherri Papini, who was then Keith Papini’s wife, seemed to disappear without a trace. The authorities, on the other hand, became aware that there was more to the story. In the year 2020, they found out that Sherri’s kidnapping had been a fake; she had organised the entire thing herself, and she had been living with an ex-boyfriend named James Reyes. She had disclosed to James that Keith was abusing her, and she expressed a desire to get free of him. In August 2020, when she was faced with such knowledge, she categorically denied everything. The only sexual activity that Sherri admits to engaging in at the time was flirting with other males.
