The Ultimate Underdog is known for not being afraid in the ring, even when facing scary monsters like Kane or flying from the top of a steel cage.

What Does Rey Mysterio Look Like Without His Mask?

Most wrestling fans know Rey Mysterio with his mask on, but these photos of Mysterio in his everyday life without a mask must be seen.

One of the main reasons why the Mexican Wrestler is one of the most famous and well-known wrestlers in the world is because of his masks. He looks great all the time, and the mask has been an important part of his career.

It has made him feel mysterious and given him the unique look of a superhero.

There are some pictures of Mysterio without his mask, though. This article will have pictures of his face without a mask.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash took on Rey Mysterio and Kanon in a mask vs. hair match in February 1999. Mysterio and Kanon lost the match, and the rules said that Mysterio had to take off his mask in the middle of the ring.

The next year, in 2002, Mysterio joined WWE. Vince McMahon asked Rey Mysterio to keep wearing his mask now that he was part of his company.

Masks of Rey Mysterio are often the most popular items at WWE events, so it seems like Vince McMahon made the right choice when he asked the former WWE Champion to put his mask back on after signing.

After his recent fight with Jon Moxley, CM Punk’s possible return to WWE is being talked about.

Rey Mysterio Have Two Kids Son Dominik Mysterio And Daughter Aalyah Gutierrez: Find Out The Age

Dominik and Aalyah are Rey Mysterio’s two happy children. Dominik is 25, and his younger sister is 21.

On his right and left hands, he has the names of his children. One hand is for his wife, and the other is for an old friend who died in 2005. As a Christian, he has tattoos of religious symbols.

His son, Dominik Gutiérrez, is an American professional wrestler who works for WWE under the name Dominik Mysterio.

They are the first father and son to win the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship together. Aalyah has never wrestled in the ring, but she has been part of WWE stories and backstage segments with her father since she was a child.

Dominik and his father had a fight with Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins in 2020. As part of the plot, Aalyah falls in love with Murphy, which surprises her father.

But the plot was scrapped, and after that segment, Aalyah started showing up less often during WWE’s Thunderdome time.

Rey Mysterio has been married to Angie Gutierrez for over 25 years.

Angie Gutierrez was already an actress, but after she got married to Rey Mysterio, she became more well-known. As teenagers in the early 1990s, they met at a gym.

At the time, Rey Mysterio was already a professional wrestler, but he wasn’t very well known. At the time they met, Angie was in a relationship.

Because of this, she was only Rey’s friend for a few months. Soon, Angie broke up with her boyfriend and started seeing Rey.

Before getting married on May 11, 1996, the couple dated for more than four years. It was a traditional Catholic ceremony, and only family and close friends were there.

Early years

scar Gutiérrez was born in California, in the city of Chula Vista, on December 11, 1974.

Career in professional wrestling

When he was 14 years old, Gutiérrez made his first appearance in Mexico on April 30, 1989. His uncle Rey Misterio Sr. taught him how to wrestle, and he started out wrestling in Mexico, where he learned the high-flying Lucha Libre style that has become his trademark. Before his uncle gave him the name Rey Misterio Jr., his ring names were “La Lagartija Verde” (The Green Lizard) and “Colibr” (Hummingbird). In 1991, when he was wrestling in Mexico as Colibr, Mysterio won the award for “Most Improved Wrestler.”

Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (1992–1995)

In Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), Mysterio feuded with Juventud Guerrera. Mysterio’s uncle, Misterio Sr., also fought Guerrera in a tag match. Guerrera and his father, Fuerza Guerrera, went up against Misterio Sr. and Mysterio Jr.

Extreme Champion Wrestling (1995–1996)

In 1995, Mysterio joined Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), which was run by Paul Heyman.

In September 1995, at Gangstas Paradise, he made his ECW debut and beat Psicosis, who was also making his ECW debut at the same time. The two started fighting, and it led to a two out of three falls match and a Mexican Death match. In early 1996, Mysterio also faced off against Juventud Guerrera, who was new to ECW. In March 1996, at Big Ass Extreme Bash, he had his last match for ECW.

Wrestling at the World Championships

On June 16, 1996, at The Great American Bash, Mysterio made his debut in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He challenged Dean Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, but Malenko won and kept the title. At Bash at the Beach in July, he beat his longtime rival Psicosis in a match between the top two contenders. This gave him another chance at the Cruiserweight title. On the July 8 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, he won his first Cruiserweight Championship by beating Malenko. He was champion for three months. During that time, he defended his title against people like Ultimate Dragon, Malenko, and Super Caló. At Halloween Havoc, he lost the title to Malenko. After he won the Cruiserweight Championship, Mysterio went up against Ultimate Dragon for the J-Crown Championship. At World War 3, in November, he lost the match for the title.

He had a fight with Prince Iaukea over the WCW World Television Championship at the beginning of 1997. At SuperBrawl VII, Lord Steven Regal attacked Mysterio during his title match against Iaukea. This made Iaukea win the match and take the title. In March, Mysterio also lost a rematch for the title at Uncensored. Soon, Mysterio got into a fight with the New World Order (nWo), which ended when Konnan, a member of the nWo, beat him in a Mexican Death match at Road Wild in August. Mysterio then got into a fight with his real-life friend Eddie Guerrero, who was the Cruiserweight Champion at the time. He won the Cruiserweight Championship for the second time by beating Guerrero in a Title vs. Mask match at Halloween Havoc. On the Nitro episode from November 10, 1997, Guerrero took the title back. They fought again at World War 3, but Mysterio lost again.

Mysterio beat Juventud on the January 15, 1998, episode of WCW Thunder to win his third Cruiserweight Championship. He then lost it to Chris Jericho at Souled Out nine days later. After the match, Jericho used a toolbox he found at ringside to keep beating people. This storyline was used to explain why Mysterio had to be out of the ring for six months because he needed knee surgery. He came back at Bash at the Beach and beat Chris Jericho to win his fourth Cruiserweight title. The next night, however, Dean Malenko stepped in and changed the result, giving the belt back to Jericho. Later that year, Eddie Guerrero put together a group of Mexican wrestlers called the Latino World Order (LWO), which was a spinoff of the New World Order. Almost every luchador in the promotion was a part of this group. Mysterio refused to join the LWO and fought with Guerrero and the other members. At Road Wild, he won a match against his longtime rival and LWO member Psicosis. He was finally forced to join the group when Eddie Guerrero beat him in a match. During the feud with LWO, Mysterio’s sometimes tag team partner Billy Kidman joined him and fought against the LWO, even though Mysterio was a member of the group. After helping Kidman win the Cruiserweight Championship at World War 3 by beating Juventud, they decided to work together. Mysterio fought Kidman for the title at Starrcade, but Kidman won. Mysterio then tried to win the title back in a triangle match with Juventud and Juventud lost. Kidman beat Mysterio for the title again at Souled Out in a match with Psicosis and Juventud that was a fatal four-way.

Giant Killer and unmasking (1998–1999)

In 1999, after the two parts of nWo got back together, they asked the LWO to stop existing. Mysterio didn’t want to take off his LWO colors, so the nWo attacked him. This led to a “Hair vs. Mask” match at SuperBrawl IX, where Mysterio and his tag team partner Konnan lost to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and Mysterio had to take off his mask. After the game, he called his uncle to let him know what had happened. Mysterio has said in public that he is upset about being found out:

I didn’t like it at all! I don’t think WCW realized how important the mask was to me, my fans, and my family. It was a very stupid thing for them to do. Fans wanted Rey Mysterio to wear the mask, and it hurt me a lot to have to take it off. It was also annoying that it didn’t happen at the end of a fight with another masked wrestler, but in a match that didn’t really matter. The same thing happened to both Juventud and Psicosis, which was a bad move from a psychological point of view on Eric Bischoff’s part. I think the fans understand that I didn’t have any other choice. I had to take off my mask or risk losing my job.

Later, Mysterio became known as a “giant killer” after beating big guys like Kevin Nash, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Scott Norton. He had a match with Nash at Uncensored, but Lex Luger got in the way and helped Nash win. Even though he had a few good matches with some of the best heavyweight wrestlers, it was made clear to him that he would never be pushed to become a main eventer. This was because Eric Bischoff used cruiserweights as mid-card entertainment instead of WCW’s usual style, which was more traditional.

On Nitro on March 15, he beat Billy Kidman the next night to win his fifth Cruiserweight Championship. On the March 22 Spring Breakout episode of Nitro, Mysterio got his first chance to challenge champion Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The names of (supposedly) almost everyone in the company were put into a hat, and a lottery was held. El Dandy was the winner of the lottery, but he was hurt, so Mysterio took the shot. The match ended with Flair winning by disqualification, even though Arn Anderson’s help for Flair should have been enough to disqualify Flair. The next week, Mysterio and Kidman teamed up and beat Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, who were part of Flair’s Four Horsemen stable, to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship. This made Mysterio a double champion. At Spring Stampede, Mysterio successfully defended his Cruiserweight Championship against his tag team partner Kidman. However, he lost the title to Psicosis in a Fatal Four-Way match that also included Juventud Guerrera and Blitzkrieg on the April 19 episode of Nitro. [36] He beat Psicosis on the next episode of Nitro to win his fifth Cruiserweight Championship. In a Triangle match at Slamboree, Mysterio and Kidman lost the World Tag Team titles to Raven and Perry Saturn. Former champions Benoit and Malenko were also in the match.
