Known for fabricating her kidnapping and receiving cash from the California Victim Compensation Board, Sherri Papini will be sentenced to prison on July 11, 2022, after which she will face a criminal investigation.
Sherri Papini is a well-known woman who made headlines in 2016 when she pretended to be abducted. She is, in particular, the mother of two children, having married Keith Papini in 2009. On November 2, 2016, Keith Papini discovered his wife had vanished while jogging a mile from her home in Redding, California, where she lived.
She did, however, emerge on November 24, 2016, which was three weeks after she had filed a missing person case. She, on the other hand, cooked up a story in which she said that her kidnappers had released her on the side of County Road 17 near Interstate 5 in Yolo County.
Her kidnappings were brought to national attention by the media, which expressed scepticism about her claim when law enforcement authorities expressed reservations about it. The FBI, on the other hand, discovered that she had stayed with her ex-boyfriends for a total of three weeks.

Aside from that, she faces a sentence of eight to fourteen months in jail for the charges of mail fraud and lying to a federal agent. Her payout from the California Victim’s Compensation Board totaled more than $30,000 in addition to her other awards.
According to her recent plea agreement, she would be required to pay around $300,000 in compensation to several government entities’ compensation funds. She is not in jail, though, because she was freed from prison on March 9, 2022, after posting a $120,000 bond.

When Sherri Papini was arrested in August 2020, she admitted to lying to a federal agent and a detective from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office about how she had scammed the California Victim’s Compensation Board out of more than $30,000.
Although Sherri was released from prison on March 3, 2022, she was later caught by the FBI for lying to federal authorities and misusing the California Victim’s Compensation Board. In addition, the FBI matched the DNA discovered on her clothes during the purported kidnapping in 2016 with the DNA found on her ex-clothes boyfriend’s and was successful.
Papini appeared at the virtual hearing and agreed to accept a plea deal on Monday, April 18, 2022, according to court documents. In particular, she will be sentenced to eight to fourteen months in prison on July 11, 2022, beginning on that date.
