WHY THE ALBUM IS CALLED “RENAISSANCE”
The time in European civilization that came right after the Middle Ages is referred to as the Renaissance.
It occurred between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries and is frequently linked to literature and the arts.
The Renaissance is a significant period in history because it symbolises the change from the Middle Ages to modernity, when people started to live more modern lifestyles.
People favoured a more contemporary style of life and moved away from classical antiquity and mediaeval life throughout this significant period of societal change.
Italy served as the starting point for the Renaissance, which swiftly extended to France, Britain, Spain, Portugal, and Germany.
THE ERA IS LINKED TO ART
The Renaissance is frequently linked to art, and many of the most well-known painters in the world were born during this time.
These artists included Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, Sandro Boticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, and a host of others.
The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper by Da Vinci, as well as The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, are some of the most well-known Renaissance artworks.
Famously, Michaelangelo also created the marble David statue that is housed in the Accademia Gallery in Florence and painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
Rebirth is what Renaissance means
Due to the fact that civilization was virtually reborn in the 14th century as a result of its modernization, the French word “renaissance” translates to “rebirth.”
Beyoncé might be implying that this seventh album is her rebirth, that its style is entirely different, and that it marks a new phase in her career.
I feel a renaissance happening, and I want to be part of that nourishing that escape, the star said to Harpers Bazaar in August 2021 when announcing new songs and revealing the album’s title in secret.
She continued, “I think we are all ready to escape, travel, fall in love, and laugh again after all the loneliness and unfairness over the previous year.
After 31 years, the singer stated that she had already spent “a year and a half” in the studio, adding that “it seems exactly as exhilarating as it did when I was nine years old.”
