The God’s Favorite Idiot actress appeared on The Tonight Show on Tuesday, when presenter Jimmy Fallon confronted her about a photo circulating online in which she is costumed as Hela, Thor and Loki’s wicked sister in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, played by Cate Blanchett.
“I see you on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder, and I’m wondering if that’s you. Is this a genuine photograph?” Fallon, 47, enquired of his visitor.
“Do you have any idea what that was? I was going to my cousin Dawn’s bridal book party at the time “McCarthy, 51, responded with a straight face, playfully. “That’s how you go to a bridal book party dressed.”
“So you can’t confirm or deny this is…” said the host.
McCarthy said, “If it is even me.” “And, if that’s the case, it happened in Dawn’s place.”
Melissa McCarthy is a well-known actress
McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, who co-stars with her in the upcoming God’s Favorite Idiot, said in a video shared to social media in December 2020 that they would love to be in the next Thor movie.
Falcone, 48, remarked into the camera, “Melissa and I are desperate to be in the film Love and Thunder,” while McCarthy added, “I am not frightened to deliver a monologue.”
While Falcone stated that he will also deliver a monologue, he also addressed a direct message to the persons in charge of the upcoming Marvel film, including director Taika Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth.
“Taika, Chris, and the Marvel studio staff,” Falcone remarked, amusingly pronouncing Marvel like the ice cream company Carvel. “I have a reputation for being a song-and-dance guy.”
Both of them sang their final pleas at the end of the entertaining video. Before Falcone came in, McCarthy stated, “We’re available and a local hire.” “We could be love and thunder, or love and thunder,” says the narrator.
Thor: Love and Thunder, which opens in theaters on July 8, reunites Hemsworth, 38, with Natalie Portman, who plays Mighty Thor. Hemsworth, Portman, 40, and Tessa Thompson, as well as Christian Bale’s sinister Gorr the God Butcher, were seen in a recent trailer.
McCarthy has another wicked (and musical!) appearance in Disney’s upcoming Little Mermaid live-action picture to look forward to, regardless of her involvement or non-involvement in the sequel.
“I’m not a singer,” the actress remarked on the red carpet of the 2022 Critics Choice Awards in March. “But I mean, getting ready for Ursula, I was so astonished that I could actually, like, manage my voice.”
McCarthy also quipped that this doesn’t rule out the possibility of pursuing a music career in the future: “But you still have to know which lane you’re in… and that’s OK by me!”
