Frequently, Kristen Kish on Selena + Chef produces dishes that are influenced by French cuisine.

Kristen Kish was adopted by a Michigan family at the age of four months after being born in Seoul, South Korea. People frequently assume that because of her cultural background, she primarily prepares Korean meals. However, French food has a big effect on her cooking approach.

Korean food is the only type of Asian cuisine that Kish has had much familiarity with. When it comes to these delicacies, she feels that other chefs are superior to her. However, when she appeared on Lucky Chow alongside YouTube Korean chef Maangchi, she did prepare kimchi, japchae, and bulgogi.

Kish acknowledged in a subsequent interview that she never attempted such dishes once more.

The American chef with Korean ancestry is one of the co-hosts of Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend on Netflix. Previously, she competed on Iron Chef Showdown: Battle Beantown, where she beat Matt Jennings but fell short of Jose Garces.

Kish was the second female chef to win Top Chef Season 10 in competition history.

Later, she compared her experiences participating in Top Chef with Iron Chef, claiming that the latter needed participants to practice and rehearse in their own kitchens with their own teams, whereas Top Chef challenged competitors to think quickly.

Kristen Kish Cooking, Kish’s debut cookbook, was released in 2017. The following year, she partnered with the Sydell company to launch her first restaurant, Arlo Grey.

Additionally, Kish is one of the three chefs who participate in the TruTV cooking competition Fast Foodies, which debuted in 2021.
