On June 23, Jerrad’s ex-wife filed a complaint against him, alleging that he had broken into the home without permission and assaulted her, her daughter, and her new partner. She added that the attack had been frenzied, frightening, and painful.
At 7:13 p.m., police officers responded to a disturbance call filed by the neighbours after a woman flagged them down on Nevada Street.
Jerrad admitted to the authorities in court that when he found out his ex-wife was dating someone else, he handled the situation like a man. However, he must defend himself against the felonies of aggravated assault and assault on a child.

Merrill allegedly punched the boyfriend of his ex-wife, knocked him to the ground, and then began kicking him in the face. Additionally, he was bleeding heavily when the police arrived, and they took him to the hospital right away for treatment of several face fractures and other critical injuries.
