Los Angeles County employees are accused of photographing the victims’ lifeless corpses after the accident and using them for personal gain. Drawings of their bodies are therefore often shared on social media.

Her attorney claims that by snapping images of her husband and daughter’s bodies and sharing them online, emergency responders added salt to an already-open wound.

Employees of LA County are the subject of a lawsuit brought by Vanessa Bryant for taking and posting pictures of her deceased husband and daughter.

Because she fears she or her living children may see the pictures, the widow of basketball player Kobe Bryant is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for invasion of privacy. The legendary NBA player’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna, along with seven other people, died in a tragic helicopter accident in January 2020 while en route to a basketball game.

On Wednesday, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles, and it sought millions of dollars in damages for negligence, anguish, and invasion of privacy.

Just two days after the collision, sheriff’s deputy Joey Cruz allegedly showed patrons at a club in California pictures of Kobe’s severed body. Cruz was seated at the Baja California Bar & Grill in Norwalk when he was seen on camera putting out his phone to a bartender to show him something on the screen.

These employees’ conduct are inacceptable in every way. They had distributed such images to arbitrary individuals. The lives of the dead person’s family members have been adversely affected by their activities.
