In a Facebook post, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Chandler’s one-count incest accusation, even though the trans vlogger prefers to be called “he.”

Christine Weston Chandler, who goes by the name Christine Weston Chandler on YouTube and blogs, was taken into custody at the Henrico County Regional Jail West in Virginia.
After being arrested for incest, she could go to prison for up to 10 years. On July 31, 2021, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said that officers “received information about sex crimes against a family member who lives in the Ruckersville area.”
The Henrico Police Department found and arrested “Christine Weston Chandler, aka Chris Chan of Ruckersville, VA,” one day after an arrest warrant was issued.
Incest is a Class 5 felony in Virginia, which means you could go to jail for at least a year and no more than ten years, or you could go to jail for no more than a year and pay a fine of no more than $2,500, depending on what the jury or judge decides.
Since 2004, different pieces of art have been made about Sonichu, a character from Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon comics that was made by Chan. Sonichu’s love interest in the show, Rosechu, was another character she made.
Why did police stop Chris Chan?

She said she couldn’t afford a lawyer when Chris’s case was first brought up in court. So, Judge Kenneth Andrew Sneathern picked David Heilberg to stand up for Chan.
The judge also put the case in the hands of the Greene County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court (JDR). Chris asked the court to call her by her female name when she goes to court next.
Even though she was transgender, she was given a male gender at the Central Virginia Regional Jail. Chan came out as transgender in a 2017 Facebook post, and according to court documents, she legally changed her name to Christine.
Chris has been held by the state since she was arrested. Some stories say that she stayed at the Western State Hospital in Staunton, Virginia, for a few months before going back to the Central Virginia Regional just before her court date in late July 2022. It’s not clear why the authorities told Chris to go to that facility.

Even though fan art shows Chris-Chan in court, Chandler and the defense didn’t really take part in the grand jury phase of the trial while the state was trying to figure out what evidence they had and what charges to bring.
Early years
Chandler’s parents, Robert and Barbara, had him in February 1982 in Ruckersville, Virginia.
Chandler told trolls about a 2004 intake survey done by a doctor at the University of Virginia Health System that said he was diagnosed with “autism” when he was about five or six years old. He went to Manchester High School in Midlothian, Virginia. In a 2013 Facebook post, he said that those four years were the best of his life.
Sonichu is a mix of Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu. He made it for a high school project in 2000. Chandler has made over a dozen online comics about Sonichu, making him his longest-lasting character. Chandler always wore a Sonichu medallion around his neck for most of the time she spent online.
Chandler wrote about his “Love Quest” in 2003 while he was going to Piedmont Virginia Community College. He carried around a big sign that said “Seeking an 18-21-Year Old Single Female Companion” and asked women out on dates. Chandler held the sign on campus for a few weeks before the Dean of Students told him he couldn’t use it on school grounds. Chandler’s changes to the CWCki show that this happened.
Journal entries from 2004 show that Chandler didn’t give up and kept using the sign and technique at the Charlottesville Fashion Square mall, but it didn’t work. Chandler called mall security guards “jerkops,” and they told her she couldn’t go there without a parent. This was written in his diary. After being told he couldn’t do “Love Quest,” Chandler put it online and let trolls into his life.
Sonichu is getting attention from trolls
In 2004, Chandler made his own Sonichu website where he started posting comics about the character. The work didn’t get much attention until a user on the Something Awful forum wrote in 2007 that they had seen Chandler’s sign and were looking into his online persona. Soon, forums like 4chan started talking about Chandler and looking into his past.
One of these users made a page on Encyclopedia Dramatica, a hate website for NSFW trolling, that quickly became the most popular page on the platform. It had pictures and conversations about him that were not supposed to be there. In an email from 2007, Chandler said that finding this site was the “worst weekend” of his life.
In response, Chandler changed the page himself. He said it was “information overload” and posted five drawings of himself in the buff. The interaction only made the trolls more likely to try to get Chandler to respond, which sometimes worked.
For the next 10 years, people pretending to be Chandler’s girlfriends would encourage him to make and share inappropriate videos.
His father died, and his house burned down
Chandler’s father, Robert, died of heart failure in 2011, which was very sad for him. In 2014, an extension cord fire burned down the Chandler family’s home. Chandler wrote on Facebook about the fire, saying that the family “lost our home and our memories.” A CBS 19 report said that the fire started in a bathroom on the first floor around 3 a.m.
Chandler had to sell things and make sculptures, comics, and art for fans to buy on Patreon, Ebay, and Etsy to pay for the costs of the house fire, Robert’s death, and the assault trial (see Other Arrests). He also had to pay legal fees for the assault trial.
Saying that imaginary worlds are real
During this time, Chandler’s life kept getting worse because of trolls. Chandler has said in videos and on Twitter that fictional worlds are real and that a “dimensional merge” can take you there.
Chandler has kept talking about the “dimensional merge” on his social media for the past three years. Chandler posted a video to his CWCVilleGuardian YouTube channel in November 2020. In it, he said, “Portals have been opening between worlds, causing dimensions to collide.” He says that the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters are signs that all life on earth will “die out” when the world of Sonichu characters crashes into ours. He also says in the video that he “merged” with Sonichu six months ago, that he and the character share the same body, and that he has “every power you can think of in this dimension and more, no exceptions.” He has said that he is in a “polyamarous relationship” with fictional characters from his own Sonichu world and the Pokemon Mewtwo.
Charges of incest are made
On July 30, a call and texts from someone claiming to be Chandler were posted on the Kiwi Farms forum. This person said that Chandler had slept with his mother Barbara. The texts showed Chandler molesting his mother after Barbara said no and giving her oral sex after telling his friend that Barbara was getting used to being touched by Chandler. The call quickly went viral on social media, and people were disgusted by what Chandler did.
Chandler was arrested for incest on August 1 at a hotel in Richmond. The arrest was live-streamed on YouTube. Chandler was moved from the Henrico County Jail to the Central Virginia Jail on Wednesday. On Monday, the Henrico jail confirmed that he was being held without bail and that he didn’t have a court date yet. It was said that he was being held in the women’s jail, but this turned out to be not true. When Chandler went to court on August 6, he asked to get his personal belongings back. When the judge said no, he got angry and stamped his feet, saying he wouldn’t feel safe without them. Chandler will be held without bond until his next court date, which will happen after a grand jury decides whether or not to charge him with a felony. Chandler started writing letters from jail on September 19. In all four, he says that he is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which is something that stays the same. In one of the letters, he also said that he was making up for his mother’s “past sins and regrets” by making love to her. Chandler says in more than one letter that he will be free soon, which seems unlikely since he is still being held in jail without bail.
Shortly after the first post, it was found out that the other person in the calls and texts was a 20-year-old college student named Isabella Loretta Janke who had used the Internet to blackmail other people. When they looked into it more, they found out that this call was part of a plan to blackmail Chandler into hurting himself or killing himself. This is a big difference from when other groups and individuals teased Chandler in the past, because they did it just for fun.
Chandler was sent to the psychiatric hospital Western State Hospital in Staunton, Virginia, in February 2022. He came back to CVRJ in May. He was sent there to get his mind back in order so he could go to trial or plead guilty. While he was there, he lost his temper and had to be held back, which he said reminded him of a similar situation in elementary school (even claiming in a letter that it gave him PTSD to that incident).
After this stay, Chandler wrote another letter saying that he had not done the things he was accused of. Many people have said that this might make it impossible for him to plead guilty, forcing the prosecution to take the case to trial. Since July 2022, the case has been given to a grand jury, which could mean that this theory is true.
