Internet outrage over Anne Heche being compared to ICU nurse Nicole Linton because “She’s Black and not a Celeb”
The conflicting online reactions Anne Heche and Nicole Linton got angered several Twitter users.
California’s Los Angeles Anne Heche, an Emmy Award-winning actress, and Nicole Lorraine Linton, a Texas nurse, both found themselves in two terrible car accidents this past week. Some Twitter users are not pleased with how others have reacted to the news of the former’s death following the vehicle accident.
53-year-old Anne Heche passed away on Friday, August 12, as a result of a devastating car accident the previous week.
“We have lost a shining example, a loving mother, a devoted friend, and a kind and joyous soul. Heche’s publicist told Page Six, “Anne will be greatly missed, but she lives on via her gorgeous sons, her iconic body of work, and her ardent activism. “She will continue to have a lasting impact because of her courage in always speaking the truth and sharing her message of love and acceptance.”
Heche was officially declared brain-dead, but physicians kept her heart beating so that One Legacy could determine whether she was a match for organ donation, according to information provided to the outlet by Heche’s team on Friday. Heche fell unconscious on August 5 after hitting a house in Los Angeles in her blue Mini Cooper. According to the actress’ publicist, she had “serious anoxic brain injury” and was “not expected to live” as of August 11. Heche was still in critical condition and had fallen into a coma shortly after the crash.
After getting a warrant to test Heche’s blood, the Los Angeles Police Department was reportedly able to prove that she was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the accident. The actress tested positive for fentanyl in her blood, according to law enforcement authorities. However, they did issue a warning that Heche might have received fentanyl at the hospital to help manage her pain after the accident. The actress was not intoxicated, despite a photo taken immediately before the crash showing a red-capped bottle in her car’s cup holder, according to TMZ.
On August 10, after the woman whose home Heche drove into claimed she had been hurt and needed medical attention as a result, the LAPD upgraded its investigation to felony DUI. Witnesses said that the actress ploughed into a neighbouring apartment complex’s carport before reversing and scurrying away. She struck another car, according to LAPD West Traffic Division investigators, before driving a bulldozer into the house that was on fire. The “Men in Trees” actor was seen being transported on a stretcher and suffering severe back injuries in incident photos, while aerial photographs showed flames billowing from the house and numerous fire vehicles encircling it.
The same week, a Los Angeles multi-car tragedy is allegedly caused by a Texas nurse. Following the tragedy on August 4, Nicole Lorraine Linton was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of gross vehicular manslaughter. Linton allegedly ran a red light shortly after 1:30 pm while moving up to 90 miles per hour, according to the prosecution. She is charged of hitting at least six vehicles.
At the time of the crash, Asherey Ryan, 23, her boyfriend, Reynold Lester, 24, and her 11-month-old son, Alonzo, were all pregnant. The identities of the two additional women who died in a different car have not been made public. Five other persons were treated and released after receiving minor injuries. The six alleged murders were motivated by the deaths of four adults, an infant under the age of 11, and an unborn child. The five vehicular manslaughter accusations against Ryan do not involve the death of his unborn child. Linton faces a life sentence in prison if she is found guilty on all counts, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.
Linton did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol, but investigators contend that she should have been aware of the risks of reckless driving given her prior driving history. Prosecutors will have to demonstrate, in Gascón’s words, that Linton acted with “implied malice” and knew that speeding on city streets may harm lives. The Times reports that 13 prior crashes involving Linton had been uncovered by the California Highway Patrol. Authorities are still attempting to reconstruct what happened. Her attorney has acknowledged that she has mental health issues. Police are also attempting to determine whether she had taken any prescription medication prior to the event.
Fans respond to the two accidents’ contrasting reactions
Everyone has expressed interest in the events and their opinions following the two accidents that made headlines last week. However, numerous Twitter users expressed their displeasure with the disparate online reactions the two people received as soon as the actress’s passing was reported. An individual on Twitter pointed out the inconsistency in the expressions of compassion for the actress following her passing and said, “It’s absolutely insane how differently people responded to the vehicle accidents caused by Nicole Clinton and Anne Heche. By the way, none of them deserve a shred of sympathy, but the way y’all respond to these wealthy, well-known (&yt) individuals is so fucking bizarre.” Hech was fortunate enough to avoid hurting anybody else, but Linton and she both deserve the same treatment, according to another Twitter user “Nicole Linton is better than Anne Heche. These two women both drove in a reckless and dangerous manner. Fortunately, Anne Heche avoided killing anyone. No fcking excuse exists for either of them. Toss the book at both of them!” Another poster criticised people for speaking of their sorrow over Heche while criticising Linton in a related incident “Many people express their sorrow over Anne Heche’s demise while simultaneously disparaging Nicole Linton. In case you missed it, they both drove erratically and at high speeds. One tragically claimed many innocent lives, whereas the other only took her own.”

Another commenter noted that Linton tested negative for all chemicals, in contrast to Heche, and remarked, “It’s interesting to observe how Nicole L. Linton’s accident and Anne Heche’s have been received. One’s test results were clean overall.” “Nicole Linton was not drunk but she killed 6 people, Anne Heche was intoxicated but only hurt herself, idk theres just something troubling me that im unable to describe thus far,” read another tweet about the incident.

While Anne Heche was intoxicated but only injured herself, Nicole Linton was sober when she killed six people. I’m not sure what’s bothering me, but I haven’t been able to put my finger on it yet.

Some people also think that racial differences in response are related to people’s occupations. The tweet said, “5 people were killed after Nicole Linton sped through an intersection while intoxicated. Instantaneously detained, but she is Black and not a famous person. Twitter users want to see her publicly executed. In reply to Anne Heche? Oh poor thing, I feel horrible for her (but not for the victim of her attempted murder).” A Twitter user stated that Heche wouldn’t have experienced the same level of sympathy if she weren’t a well-known person, saying, “How many people have such empathy for others who are not famous is something I often ponder. Do you have the same sympathy for Nurse Nicole Linton, who killed three people in California last week? If Anne Heche weren’t well-known, she’d be demonised by everyone.” Another individual remarked in response to the answers’ “anti-blackness,” “The reaction on Twitter to Anne Heche vs. Nicole Linton is fascinating to observe. People are trying to kill Nicole, while those who don’t understand Anne’s issues with addiction and mental health are being reprimanded for their lack of sympathy. Anti-black prejudice exists.”

In reply to Anne Heche? I feel sorry for her, “Oh poor thing” (but not the woman she tried to kill)
